5 Ways Nurses Are Growing Their Holistic Practice This Fall
Most nurses who find their way to Nurses for Natural Health don't arrive looking for a single class. They arrive looking for a different way to practice — one that treats nutrition, movement, and stress as clinical tools, not extras. This fall, that shows up in five concrete ways: a new evening option for our most popular certification, a fast, practical answer to one of the most common questions in primary care right now, a hands-on certificate in one of the oldest tools in the holistic toolkit, a gentler on-ramp into yoga, and a first look at where all of this is headed next.
1. Functional Nutrition Certification, now with an evening option
Our Functional Nutrition Certification has always been built around real nursing schedules — live cohorts, recordings if you miss a session, and a self-paced track for anyone who'd rather move at their own speed. This month we're opening an Evening Cohort, starting October 19, 6:00–7:30 PM ET, with four live sessions (10/19, 11/2, 11/16, 11/30) carrying the same 35 AHNA-Approved CE Hours as our morning cohorts. If early mornings have kept you from joining, this is the schedule built for you. Prefer to skip live sessions altogether? The certification is also available fully self-paced and on-demand for $997, so you can work through the material whenever your week allows.
2. A confident answer to "will I lose muscle on this?"
GLP-1 medications have changed nearly every nutrition conversation nurses have with patients, and one question comes up constantly: will this cost them muscle, not just weight? Our GLP-1 Nutrition for Nurses workshop is a single, on-demand session built to answer exactly that — protein needs, hydration, and muscle-preservation strategies you can use in a five-minute bedside conversation, plus a printable checklist covering preparation, active treatment, and tapering. It's $35, available anytime, and designed to be usable the same day you watch it.
3. Acupressure, taught as a real clinical skill
Acupressure tends to get filed under "nice to have" until a nurse actually learns it — and then it becomes something reached for on nearly every shift. Our Acupressure Certificate for Nurses is six AHNA-approved contact hours across three paired Saturday sessions, walking through evidence-informed points for pain, anxiety, nausea, sleep, and stress, with hands-on practice built into every session. It's a genuinely different offer from our shorter $25 "Clinical Acupressure: 5 Points" workshop — the certificate is the deeper, credentialed version for nurses who want to build this into their standing skill set.
4. A gentler starting point for yoga
Not every nurse wants a full therapeutic-yoga certification right out of the gate. Yoga Foundations for Nurses, our 8-contact-hour foundational program, is built for that — basic yoga philosophy and simple, safe movement you can bring into patient care and your own self-care without the deeper time commitment of our Therapeutic Yoga Foundations track. We're still finalizing a few program details on our end; nurses who want to be notified the moment registration opens can email us directly at contact@nursesfornaturalhealth.org.
Also worth watching: we're putting the finishing touches on a brand-new workshop, Functional Nutrition for Common Chronic Diseases Part 1, coming Saturday, October 10. Pricing and registration aren't live yet, but if you want an early heads-up, the same inbox above will get you on the list.
5. What's coming next: the Integrative Nursing Certificate
Looking further ahead, we're preparing to launch the most comprehensive program NFNH has ever built. The Integrative Nursing Certificate opens its Founding Cohort on January 5, 2027 — 60 contact hours (Pending AHNA Approval) woven across five pillars: Nutrition, Movement, Lifestyle Medicine, Mindfulness, and Breathwork. Where a workshop like GLP-1 Nutrition or a certificate like Acupressure lets you go deep on one modality, this program is designed to bring them together into a single, coherent foundation — training nurses to coach patients using each of these approaches, and to understand supplement use, grounded in the principle of vitalistic natural medicine. It's self-paced and on-demand, with an optional live cohort or 1:1 group mentoring for anyone who wants more structure. Founding Cohort pricing is $997 for the first 25 enrollees, rising to $1,997 after December 15, with payment plans available. If you've already taken one or two of our workshops and have been waiting for the program that ties it all together, this is it — email contact@nursesfornaturalhealth.org to join the waitlist.
The through-line
None of these five paths exist in isolation. A nurse who takes GLP-1 Nutrition this month might be back for the Acupressure Certificate in the spring, and eventually land in the Integrative Nursing Certificate once it opens. That's by design — each workshop and certification is meant to stand on its own, and to fit into a larger, ongoing education in holistic, natural-health nursing. Wherever you are in that process, there's a next step ready for you this fall. Explore all our holistic nursing certificate programs here.
